MODERN TECHNOLOGY PARK WITH A VILLAGE FEEL

Vreta Kluster has every potential to become a successful technology hub. It will play its part in maintaining and strengthening the reputation that Swedish agriculture has with regard to good animal husbandry, safe food, open landscapes, environmental responsibility and attractive job opportunities. Intensive discussions are taking place with various parties about the forms of cooperation that are necessary to achieve the aims outlined in the visions for Vreta. The idea is to offer an environment that inspires new ways of thinking, stimulates new ideas and innovative solutions, and facilitates the establishment of networks. Vreta Kluster is a unique environment as a base for enterprise and entrepreneurship.

Which village do you feel most at home in?

To make it easy to locate the right environment for your business to thrive in, and to emphasise the Vreta Kluster concept of a modern technology park with a village feel, we have grouped operations into half a dozen ‘villages’. We hope this will encourage tenants to feel truly at home among their neighbours and take an active role in creating and developing the local community spirit.

omvarld

1. Global village with business intelligence service

This is a virtual ‘village’ where tenants and their partners and colleagues can participate in forum discussions and use the virtual ‘Village Green’ for networking activities.

Business intelligence is an important part of the Global Village concept. The use of this service is reserved exclusively for Vreta Kluster tenants.

A booking system for shared meeting facilities and other resources is available for all tenants.

2. Advisory village

Green industries have a key role to play, not only for the development of rural areas, but also for the creation of a society that is economically, socially and ecologically sustainable. This village provides premises and facilities for companies that support and provide advice and consulting services to green industries.

3. Official village

The operational activities of green industries are governed by a maze of different rules and procedures – some obligatory, some voluntary – enforced by national or local authorities and industry organisations. The sheer quantity of these regulations and the number of monitoring bodies make it extremely important to ensure that contact between officials and businesses works well. This village is a focal point for bodies and representatives of the authorities who are eager to make the points of contact between researchers, entrepreneurs and decision-makers more effective.

4. Research Village

This is the section of Vreta Kluster in which companies working with green sector research and development will congregate. Premises here can be adapted for various technical purposes, as laboratories, or to meet other special requirements.

5. Corporate Village

This is the village for companies, consultants and entrepreneurs. The site has premises for every purpose, from traditional office accommodation to customised facilities for companies with special needs.

6. Educational Village

Educational establishments need input from trade and industry in the form of support and in terms of helping to determine what needs to be taught. The Educational Village trains engineers and technology graduates to work in the green sector. In this sense, it is a natural complement to Vreta Agricultural College, which is already part of the site.

Win-win for companies in networks

The potential for collaboration opens up unlimited opportunities for future tenants to participate in various networks, both with their Vreta Kluster neighbours and with other of the region’s institutions, authorities, science parks and technology clusters.

Some big names already on site

Vreta Upper Secondary School’s facilities – teaching rooms, auditorium, restaurant, café, student accommodation, riding manège and riding tracks – are now more or less complete. The County Agricultural Society has also moved into the premises, and Linköping University has expressed interest in transferring sections of its research activities to Vreta Kluster.
